Bannes Castle
Castle Bannes is a castle located in the town of Beaumont-du-Perigord, in the French department of the Dordogne.
History
The small village of Bannes was to exist in the 5th or 6th century. He is called vicus in the legend of Saint Avit. The name of the castle was to come from the word banne which means in Celtic and Patois Périgord, horn, tip, and was to describe the site. Near the castle of Lanquais is the banne horn.
The castle appears in the texts in the 14th century. The castle is to Jean de Seignal, flayers captain when he is taken by Ramonet de Sorts, captain of Castelnaud castle for the English, in 1409. He had driven out the Marquise d'Esclamat. In 1417, Jean de Lot is held prisoner and Pierre de Bosredon released him. In 1418, the inhabitants of Sarlat bought a truce to the captains of Belvès, Cugnac, Bannes and Domme.
