Biysk
Biysk was founded in 1709 by order of Peter I as a fortress, which was supposed to protect the southeastern borders of the state and trade routes to China and Mongolia. The fortress was called the Bikatun prison. The first garrison consisted of 100 men and 2 cannons. In the summer of 1710, the Dzungar army was going to attack the Kuznetsk fortress, but because of the cannons in the prison, they could not overcome Biya in this place. The army crossed in another place, but the military in the Kuznetsk fortress managed to warn about the attack and the attack failed. The Dzungars retreated, besieged and burned the Bikatun prison, and 60 surviving defenders were taken prisoner. So the fortress perished for the first time. Biysk 1

In 1718, the fortress was rebuilt 20 km upstream of the Biya - now there is a public garden named after Fomchenko in this place. Then the fortress was enlarged several times, new fortifications were completed. But by the end of the 18th century, the borders of the state moved south, the fortress was in the rear and it was transformed into a city. In 1848, the Biysk fortress was officially abolished. Already in 1860, only ruins remained of the fortress. And now - only plans for the walls and a few cannons that still stand in Biysk. Biysk 2

For 300 years, Biysk has turned from a small garrison into a city with a population of about 200 thousand people. It has its own planetarium and museums with unique expositions; the architecture of the 18th century has been preserved. Here you can see the old cannons of the Biysk fortress and new art objects. And you can also take a ride around the neighborhood: visit the place where the Ob begins and the Mikhail Evdokimov Museum, ride along the Chuisky tract. Biysk 3

The Drama Theater building was built in 1914. Retired Colonel Anton Petrovich Kopylov, nephew of the Mongolian merchant Pavel Kopylov, allocated money for the construction. The uncle left in his will an impressive amount for charity and the former military man decided to build a cultural institution. Under the terms of the colonel, this house was to house a library and a Sunday school for adults, to hold lectures and folk readings. And in no case do not sell alcohol - it was for education and the fight against drunkenness that Anton Kopylov conceived the construction of the People's House. Biysk 91

Abandoned Cultural and entertainment center 'Altai'. Since 1982, the Altai cinema has been the largest cinema in Biysk. After the crisis of the 90s, they tried to revive the cinema - several shops and a nightclub were opened here. Then there was a fire and Altai was restored only by 2004. The red ribbon was cut by Vladimir Mashkov - it was with the premiere of his film that the new life of the cinema began. But after the introduction of more modern cinemas in 2006, the building was empty again. Biysk 118

So, for example, the actor / writer V.M. Shukshin, Metropolitan Macarius Nevsky, the hero of the war of 1812, Major General from the cavalry Anton Skalon, the creator of the M. Kalashnikov assault rifle, are brought to your attention. In order not to tire the attention of readers of the review. Alexander Park. Biysk 147

The Green Wedge area began to be settled in 1883 - then a distillery appeared here. Before that, there were only meadows, small swamps and sand. At the beginning of the 20th century, a mill was built on the shore, and workers began to settle around. In the 1950s, a large apple orchard was planted here. And in the 1970s, a large construction project began - for several years they washed sand, raised the water level by 3 meters, and laid engineering networks. Now this place is a large microdistrict, and the distillery has long become a large distillery. Biysk 203

Biysk Airport has not been operating since 2009. The runway was built in 1989, at the same time the terminal building appeared. In those years, the Biysk airport experienced a real flourishing: the geography of flights expanded and then it was possible to fly not only to Barnaul and Novosibirsk, but also to Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo, Gorno-Altaisk, and even Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. A couple of years ago, there was talk that the airport would be restored - but this issue has been postponed for the time being - the regional government does not see the prospects for its development. But over the years of inactivity, car festivals and rallies have been held here several times. Biysk 223

The bridge across the Biya is part of the Chui tract. The M-52 highway runs from Novosibirsk to the border with Mongolia, but it is believed that it was from the Biysk bridge that the Chuysky tract began. This trade road is mentioned in Chinese chronicles thousands of years ago, but instead of a bridge, it used a ferry. At first it was a cable ferry, then a tugboat ferry. The bridge appeared in 1965, although the idea of its construction appeared in 1901. Then the local merchant Morozova offered to build a bridge with her own money, and take 5 kopecks from each loaded wagon for the fare. The City Duma abandoned one of the first options for a toll road - it seemed to the authorities that it was too expensive for local peasants. In 1918, the construction of a wooden bridge on piles began, but construction was stopped due to the civil war. And in 1934, the bridge was nevertheless built, but already a pontoon - on floating supports. In 1962, another pontoon bridge was built nearby. But this was not enough, especially when it was necessary to carry the harvest. Therefore, in 1965 a new bridge with spans was built. Biysk 229
