Budmerice Palace
Budmerice manor house or Pálffy manor house is a manor house located in the Trnava hills in the village of Budmerice. It is surrounded by an English park from the second half of the 19th century.
History
It was built in 1889 in the pseudo-Gothic style by the Pálfi family as a hunting manor. The building was probably inspired by the Renaissance castles on the Loire. The Pálfi family were landowners in Budmerice. Budmerice was at that time part of their estate Červený Kamen. Ján Pálffy (1857-1934) was very fond of hunting. There was a pheasantry near the manor house and you can still find the remains of its fence in the forest. The count also had a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes erected. The statue is only a few metres from the manor park, on the forest road that leads to Červený Kameň. It was confiscated by the Czech-Slovak government in 1945 after the emigration of the last Count Pavel of Budmerice.
Above the portal is the coat of arms of the builder Jan Pálffy and his wife Elsa von Schlippenbach and on its sides the inscription. DOMINI- -MDCCCLXXXIX. // QUO. NUPTIAS. RITE- CELEBRAVERUNT. COMES // JOANNES. PÁLFFY. - AB ERDÖD. JUNIOR. AC. // ELSA. COMITISSA. - SCHLIPPENBACH. EXSTRUCTUM // CURANTE. FRAN A NEUMANN, ARCHITECTORE".
At present, it is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, the operation of the exhibition, its ideological and professional preparation is provided by the Slovak National Museum - Červený Kameň Museum. It is registered in the Central List of Cultural Monuments.
