Crossbasket Castle
Crossbasket, also known as Crossbasket Castle, is a former manor house and current hotel in Scotland. It is located between the towns of Blantyre and East Kilbride in the South Lanarkshire Council Area. In 1971, the building was added to the Scottish Heritage List in the highest category A.
The history
In 1382, the Scottish King Robert II. granted the lands of Kilbride to John Lindsay. The Lindsays of Dunrod, who resided in a nearby castle, had a tower built on the site in the early 16th century as a widow's house, which is the nucleus of Crossbasket.
