Drena Castle
Drena Castle is a medieval castle located in the municipality of the same name in the province of Trento.
History
The site where the castle stands has been inhabited since prehistoric times, as evidenced by the discovery of the remains of a Bronze Age fortified settlement.
The first known owners of the medieval manor were the Sejano family. They clashed with the da Arco family, who wanted to take possession of the castle because of its strategic position on the road connecting Trento to Lake Garda. In the end, the da Arco family prevailed and in 1174 the manor became their property.
