Another south side gem, Queen’s Park, another of Paxton’s visions and affording spectacular views from its summit where the remains of an Iron Age and later roman fort were found. In the park can be found the winter gardens and small zoo as well as 5-a-side pitched and a crazy golf course. The large dirty looking area is community allotments – for which there is a waiting list of 7 years! Glasgow 336

Back east again to Tollcross Park, you can see the beds where the parks internationally award winning roses usually are and what make it one of the favourites of the Empress of Japan (or so she said when she came last year to judge the roses). Also in the park is the old Dunlop (the tyre company) mansion, now flats, the winter gardens and petting zoo. The large building to the bottom is Tollcross Leisure Centre and will host the diving during the CWG’s. Glasgow 339
