Kadarchy Monument
Monument to Kadarchy
Kadarchy (Animal breeder) is a monument to a shepherd in the Republic of Tyva, near the city of Kyzyl. It is considered one of the hallmarks of Tuva.
Location
The monument was erected at 9 km of the Kyzyl-Erzin highway, on a mountain opposite the Kyzyl airport. Across the road from the monument is a healing spring (arzhaan) Tos-Bulak.
Composition of the monument
The monument stands on a small conical hill and depicts a shepherd dressed in a warm Tuvan robe and a pointed hat. A knife and an armchair hang on the shepherd's belt. The shepherd's outstretched arms rest on a staff, and his gaze is directed into the distance.
After the installation of the monument, it was considered wrong that there was no flock next to the shepherd. Therefore, more than a hundred stones were laid out around the monument, painted white, and now they symbolize a flock of sheep.
