El SY Rhouma, cuyo nombre original era Maria, fue construido por Napier Shanks & Bell en Yoker (Clyde) como un yate de vapor de 250'2'' de eslora total y botado el 6/6/1893. Fue encargado por la Armada italiana en 1912, cuando fue rebautizado como Giuliana. Bajo el mando de Sir George tenía espacio para una orquesta de 12 hombres. En 1913 Sir George sustituyó el SY Rhouma por otro yate de vapor construido en Clyde, el SY Triton, al que rebautizó SY Rhouma. Este buque se construyó en la Ailsa Shipbuilding Company de Troon, en el Clyde. Se trata del mismo astillero que en 2000 construyó el MV Loch Nevis, el actual transbordador que presta servicio a Rum y las demás islas pequeñas. Lamentablemente, el MV Loch Nevis fue el último buque construido en el astillero Ailsa, que cerró en 2000. El SY Rhouma se vendió en 1920, pero sorprendentemente sigue a flote.
