Kobe Ohashi is the first double-deck arched steel bridge in Japan that spans between Port Island and the 4th jetty of the new port on the Honshu side in Chuo Ward, Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture.
Overview
Along with the construction of Port Island, it was constructed as a connecting road connecting the existing urban areas. The total length is 322 m between expansion joints, the lower road is one way to Port Island, the upper road is one way to Sannomiya.The connecting route on the Sannomiya side is the Harbor Highway to Rokko Island, Kobe Station, Himeji, Osaka direction. Route 2 to Hamate Bypass, etc. The Sannomiya area is via Shinko and Route 174. On both sides of the bridge, there is a sidewalk with a width of 3 meters, and additives such as water, gas, electricity, and telephone are installed below it. Along with the construction, the 4th jetty of the new port was extended by 200m, and a new Kobe Port Terminal Building was also constructed.
The Portopia Bridge, which is a dedicated bridge for the Port Liner, is adjacent and laid in parallel, but this is another building completed several years after the completion of the Kobe Bridge.
