Marzac Castle
The castle of Marzac is located on the town of Tursac, in Dordogne, 22 km north-west of Sarlat.
It bears the name of its first lord whose primitive fortress was destroyed during the Hundred Years War.
The current castle dates from the 15th century, consisting of a main building surmounted by machicolation and a walkway, and framed by four circular towers.
The imposing building was completed in the 17th century by a neo-gothic cloister.
If the moats of the fifteenth century have disappeared, it remains on the other hand dependencies of formerly a chapel and a monumental dovecote of the seventeenth, a hundred meters from the castle itself.
Overlooking the Vézère River, with a French park including a pond, the Château de Marzac is partially listed on the complementary list of historical monuments.
