The statue is located in Pakse, which is the provincial capital of Champassak Province in the southwest of Laos. Perched high on Salao Hill, the Golden Buddha surveys the panoramic landscape of the region. From the hilltop where the Buddha is, visitors can have a view over peaceful Pakse city and Mekong River. Besides paying homage to the Buddha, another reason many people go all the way up is to see the wonderful view of the whole city gradually turn into darkness.
