Port of Buenaventura
Port Overview
Is the most important port of the Pacific due to the volume of cargo handled, its location is privileged as the main world sea routes traverse and is the closest American port to the Asian market.
The government gave this port in concession to Regional Port Society of Buenaventura. This port has a specialized infrastructure for container handling, grain, bulk and multipurpose cargo. It also has 14 berths, 12 operated by Society of Buenaventura and 2 under another concession.
The main bottleneck is the poor road infrastructure from and to the port, this causes delays and increases price in trade logistics.
