Port of Rauma
The Port of Rauma (LOCODE: FI RAU) is Finland's third largest container port and its share of containers passing through the ports of the West Coast is over 70%. Satama's most significant types of goods are forest industry products and piece goods.
The parts of the harbor are Iso-Hakuni, Petäjäs, Laitsaari Central Pier, Pikisaari, Container Terminal and Martinkari Oil and Chemical Port. There are 20 docks.
The Port of Rauma launched a major construction investment in the current container terminal area in April 2016. The project is estimated to cost approximately EUR 21.5 million. At the same time, the project will expand the existing container terminal by constructing more quay space for container vessels and a new harbor area for container storage. At the same time, the Beetle Bulk Dock is deepened to a depth of 12 meters.
History
The Port of Rauma was expanded during 2018. The fairway was deepened to 12 meters and the quay was extended from 160 meters to 520 meters. The capacity of the container port increased from 300,000 containers to 500,000 containers per year. Expansion works cost a total of EUR 65 million.
