Port of Weipa
The Port of Weipa is located on the north-west coast of Cape York Peninsula. Bauxite is the primary product exported through the port, which is mined from the Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA) mines.
The port has onshore bauxite handling, processing and stockpiling facilities. Its conveyors run to two wharves located at Lorim Point for shiploading. Two other wharves, Humbug Wharf and Evans Landing Wharf handle a variety of commodities including general cargo, fuel and live cattle.
Entry into and/or use of the port area is subject to Port Notices. Failure to comply with the Port of Weipa Port Notices is an offence under the Transport Infrastructure Act 1994 (Qld) and penalties apply as outlined in the Port Charges.
