The Uglich Hydroelectric Station or Uglich GES (Russian: Угличская ГЭС) is a hydroelectric station on the Volga River in Uglich in Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, and is the first of the Volga-Kama Cascade of dams. It began operating on December 8, 1940, making it one of the oldest hydroelectric plants in Russia. The plant has a 120 MW capacity and is operated by RusHydro. There is also a Russian hydropower museum located at the hydroelectric plant dedicated to the development of hydropower.Website:http://www.kvvges.rushydro.ru/

Concrete spillway dam. The dam has 7 spans of 19.8 meters wide. Each flight has two tiers. The upper tier, at a height of 5 meters, flows about 27% of the calculated flow rate and through it the ice is discarded. The lower tier, 4 meters high, flows around 73% of the flow. The dam is designed to pass water of the most powerful flood, the offensive of which can happen only once in 1000 years. Uglich Hydroelectric Station 12

The right fragment with a water level is larger. As we were told, only in 1954, when the flood was passed, all the gates were opened to let water pass, which caused Uglich's flooding. Uglich Hydroelectric Station 24

The first hydraulic unit was launched on December 8, 1940, a year later, the second one was launched. The war began, and in the forty-first year the construction stopped. In the second half of 1942 it continued, but at a very slow rate. The HPP was launched at the level of the Uglich reservoir 2.7 m below the design level. Only in April 1943 the Uglich reservoir was filled to the necessary mark. Uglich Hydroelectric Station 27
