Ulla River Viaduct
Record: 630 m
Height Record: 116.90 m
Main Span Record: 168 m
The viaduct over the Ulla River is located in the Silleda (Dornelas) -Vedra-Boqueixón sub-section of the Ourense-Santiago High Speed Line, between the provinces of Pontevedra and A Coruña.
Its architectural characteristics respond to the environmental need to safeguard the Site of Community Importance (SCI) 'Ulla-Deza Fluvial System', delimited by the Ulla river and the riverside vegetation on its banks, in a valley with a very marked V shape .
The viaduct is 630 meters long and rests on nine piers directly on the ground, with a maximum height of 116.9 meters, and on another five piers that rest on a 168-meter span central arch.
These dimensions give the viaduct over the Ulla river the characteristic of being the highest of all the Spanish high-speed rail lines, both in height of the piers and in the arrow of the central arch.
