Virgin Rock

At Mount Samson, more than 100 meters above sea level, stands a statue of 15 meters high stone carved with the face and hands in white marble.

The interior of the monument is hollow and you can climb to the ship that the Virgin carries in his right hand to see magnificent views of the Ria de Bayonne and Memorial Vigo. El Virgin blessings on September 14, 1930 and was conducted by architect Antonio Palacios. The hands and face, white marble, was sculptor Ángel García Díez.

Fue inaugurado y bendecido el 14 de septiembre de 1930, después de 20 años de construcción financiada por suscripción popular. Su finalidad era servir como referencia a los navegantes, que la ven en cuanto entran por la bocana sur de la Ría de Vigo.
