Record: 8 m
Memorial Complex «Pereprava» is a majestic memorial complex that recalls the exploits of our ancestors during the Great Patriotic War.
The memorial complex «Pereprava» is located in the place where the Soviet troops forced the Dnieper in November 1943. The history of the appearance of the monument is quite unusual. In 1968, to the 25th anniversary of the liberation of concrete of Zaporizhzhia from the fascist invaders, a granite stone was laid on the banks of the Dnieper. Next year a high concrete stela appeared here, which rests on the console in the form of a raft. On such floating facilities in 1943, Soviet soldiers forced the Dnieper. However, from the side of the Dnieper, the stele did not give, in the opinion of the architects, the expected effect and it was decided to supplement it with the figure of the warrior. According to historians, in fact, the crossing of the Soviet troops across the Dnieper took place several kilometers downstream. And erected a memorial in the vicinity of Zaporizhzhia for only one reason, so it was more convenient to get there.
