Hispanidad Bridge
Record: 156 m
Height Record: 24 m
Main Span Record: 120 m
The Hispanidad Bridge is an asymmetric cable-stayed bridge in Valladolid, located on Avenida de Zamora (south interior round), and crosses the Pisuerga River, connecting the Covaresa neighborhood with that of Parquesol.
History
The Hispanidad Bridge was built between 1996 and 1999, along with the rest of Avenida de Zamora. Its construction was projected and directed by Juan José Arenas and Marcos Pantaleón and built by a joint venture formed by Ferrovial and Zarzuela. It currently belongs to the Valladolid City Council, like the rest of the avenue, after its transfer by the Junta de Castilla y León, an administration that financed and built the work by agreement signed with the Consistory.
Details
The main span measures 120 meters and has two tie-down planes, and the pylons have the special characteristic of being in the shape of a triangular frame; so that the tie rods, instead of continuing to the counterweight as usual, are anchored in such a way that the tensile load is transmitted on the side of the frame farthest to the river to the counterweight. The pylons (also called "sails" by the authors) are made of prestressed concrete in which they are in traction and their height is about 25 meters, the width of the deck is 34 meters, which include a two-lane road for vehicles of motor, one bike and one sidewalk per direction, separated by a median. The length of the small span (the one that closes the triangle) is 36 meters, the total length would be 156 meters.
