Kaunakakai Harbor
Welcome to Kaunakakai Harbor, the island of Molokai's Small Boat Harbor oceanfront to the largest town on Moloka'i, Kaunakakai.
Kaunakakai Harbor is used for cargo, recreation and commercial uses therefore the port authority is shared by the Dept. of Transportation - Harbors Division and the DLNR's Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation.
The town was made famous in the 1930s by the song "The Cockeyed Mayor of Kaunakakai", beginning an ongoing tradition of designating an honorary mayor.
In the mid-1800s, King Kamehameha V sometimes spent his summers on Molokai at a home in Kaunakakai. The main street of Kaunakakai, Ala Malama Avenue, was named after the king's summer home.
