Little Castle Blankenburg
The small castle was built in 1725 as a pleasure palace. For a clear view from the garden shed, which is designated as a small castle to delineate the Residenzschloss on the mountain peak, the top of the opposite Schnappelberg was demolished. This is an offshoot of the beginning of nearby Teufelsmauer. In the second half of the 18th century, the original half-timbered building received a sandstone facade and became the residence of officials. From the 19th to the 21st century, the Little Castle housed the Municipal Museum. Today there are the tourist information as well as information and administration of the Harzer hiking nobility.
Orangerieplatz, located on the Kleiner Schloss, was a particularly important part of the entire complex in the 18th century and was used for performances of a baroque garden theater.
