Monument to the Flyer, Papantla
It is 18 metres high and was built in 1988. At the foot of the monument there is a plaque called Mensajeros del Sol (Messengers of the Sun), which explains the meaning of the Papantla flying ritual, an invocation to the fertility of the fields.
The Monument to the Flyer in Papantla is 18 metres high and was created by the artist Teodoro Cano in 1988 as a tribute to the tradition of the flyers, representing the caporal playing the flute and drum on top of the pole. It is located on Cerro del Campanario and offers a panoramic view of the city.
