West side of Nassau lies a sculpture garden waiting to be visited by divers and snorkelers. Ocean Atlas, Virtuoso man, and Lucayan faces decorate the sea floor of the Clifton Heritage Park. Ocean Atlas towers 17 feet tall and weighs 60lbs depicting a young Bahamian girl carrying the weight of environmental issues on her shoulder. Ocean Atlas is the largest underwater statue in the world and created by the famous Jason deCaires Taylor. With time these sculptures would promote coral reef formation and home for more marine life. Note before snorkelling to the garden check with the park rep to ensure there isn’t an oil slick.
