Port of Neuss
The Port of Neuss is located on the left bank of the Lower Rhine in Neuss. It was created in 1835 by expanding a former tributary of the river.
The entrance to the port is 30 metres above sea level. The port has five harbour basins. The industrial estate includes oil mills (including the Sels oil mill), container stations, the production and development department of the automotive supplier Pierburg, the Thomy production facility, the Knauf gypsum production facility, the Tempo paper tissue production facility and many other production sites belonging to various companies. Until 1997, IHC Neuss's agricultural machinery production facility was also located here. The port is an important economic factor for the city of Neuss. On average, only 37 inhabitants per km² live in the harbour district, which is the lowest population density in the city of Neuss.
