Port of Paita
The Port of Paita is located in the department of Piura, in the north of the country.
It is the second national port, after Callao, in terms of container movement and the fifth in total cargo movement. The port of Paita is the main port in northern Peru, mobilizing import and export containers (mainly hydrobiological and agricultural products) and general cargo.
In the first quarter of 2009, it was granted to the Portuguese-Peruvian consortium Terminales Portuarios Euroandinos (TPE), which signed the contract in September of that year.
In 2018, the port movement in the port of Paita was 274,151 TEU, ranking 42nd on the list of port activity in Latin America and the Caribbean.
