Ponte dos Santos
The Bridge of the Saints, inaugurated on July 29, 1987, crosses the Ribadeo estuary, uniting Asturias and Galicia by the coast. Initially it was built to support the amplitude of a normal road, but in 2008 it was inaugurated (October 1, 2008) the expansion that consisted of adecuala for a road unfolding to support the passage of a motorway (A-8).
Receive the name by the two chapels that have the estuary on each edge, the one of San Román in the figueiras (Castropol) and the one of San Miguel in Ribadeo.
The maritime activity has been varied by the construction of the bridge of the saints, affecting the conversion of the passage boats for tourist tours or limiting the height of the ships built in the shipyards.
Tributes
On May 4, 2013, Correos issued a seal with a facial value of two euros with the image of the bridge.
