Descripción:El embalse de Dniprodzerzhynsk (ucraniano, Дніпродзержинське водосховище, Dniprodzerzhyns'ke vodoskhovyshche) es un embalse ubicado en el río Dniéper en Ucrania. Se llama así por la ciudad de Dniprodzerzhynsk, abarca una superficie toal de 567 kilómetros cuadrados dentro del óblast de Dnipropetrovsk. Se formó en 1963-1965. El embalse es usado principalmente para generar energía hidroeléctrica, el transporte, las piscifactorías y el consumo humano.

El embalse tiene 114 km de largo, 5 km de ancho (8 km máximo), una profundidad de 15 metros y un volumen de 2,45 km³. En el invierno, el embalse se congela.

Los puertos de Kremenchuk y el complejo de enriquecimiento de mineral del Dniéper en Komsomolsk se encuentran en el embalse. La central hidroeléctrica Dniprodzerzhynsk, construida durante 1956–1965, también se encuentra en el embalse.

La central hidroeléctrica de Dniprodzerzhynsk es una central eléctrica en el río de Dnieper en Kamianske, Ucrania. (El 19 de mayo de 2016 el Parlamento ucraniano votó para cambiar el nombre de la ciudad de Dniprodzerzhynsk en Kamianske para cumplir con las leyes de descomunicación) El propósito principal de la presa es la generación de energía hidroeléctrica y la navegación. Es la cuarta presa de la cascada del Dnieper. La presa tiene una esclusa y una central eléctrica con una capacidad instalada de 352 MW. La construcción en la presa comenzó en 1956 y el último generador fue puesto en servicio en 1964. Es operado por Ukrhydroenerho.

Dneprodzherzhinsk HPP

Dneprodzherzhinsk HPP is the fourth stage of the cascade on the Dnieper River. The hydro scheme was built during 1956-1966 and wascommissioned in 1966.

Since 1996, the complex rehabilitation of the Dnieper cascade of HPPs has started. The rehabilitation included reconstruction and replacement of hydropower, electrical, and auxiliary, mechanical and sanitary equipment of the HPPs. From 1997 till 2002 the first stage of rehabilitation was completed; and in 2006 the second stage of rehabilitation started.

The main goals of rehabilitation were to extend the operational period of the hydropower plants, to increase their capacities, output, reliability and safety, to fulfill the requirements of environmental protection, to improve the quality of electricity produced due to the improvement of control system, to create modern working conditions that meet current regulations.

During the 1st and the interim stages of rehabilitation 2 hydro units were reconstructed.Furthermore,the electrical and auxiliary equipment has been partially reconstructed. Other 6hydro units and remaining out-dated equipment are being reconstructed at the 2nd stage.
