Descripción:Port of Haiphong- Tradition and History

On Nov 24th, 1929 all workers of Ben sau kho (previous name of Port of Hai phong) gathered together and struggled against the Port Owner for increasing salary and supplying enough drinking water. The struggle entried a greatly bright landmark into the glorious history of the port workers.

Port of Hai phong was founded in 1876. Over 121 years of existence and development, Port of Hai phong has always played the most important role of the “Border gate” Interface in the North of the country. Import and Export Cargoes of 17 northern provinces and transit cargoes to and from North of Laos and south of China etc have been transfered via Port of Hai phong to the markets of many countries and vice versa.

On May 13th, 1955, Hai phong city was liberated. At the demand of the economic restoration and development after the war, all the port’s workers have worked laboriously, actively and innovatively to overcome all difficulties and reached the port’s cargo throughput in millions of tons.

Hai Phong Port (cảng Hải Phòng) is a port group in Haiphong City, Vietnam, serving Northern Vietnam and future Kunming-Lao Cai-Hanoi-Haiphong Corridor. This is the leading seaport for northern Vietnam. This port system is under planning to handle ships up to 30,000-40,000 DWT. The new port will be known as Lach Huyen. Its construction will entail the creation of an island linked by a bridge to the mainland. There will be a new bulk terminal and three container terminals. [1]
