Brodsworth Hall was built in the 1860's in the Italianate style also favoured for Queen Victoria's Osborne House, though furnished on a more comfortable and domestic scale. Much of its original scheme survives today, making it one of England's most unaltered Victorian country houses. The gardens, a collection of 'grand gardens in miniature', have been restored to their Victorian splendour, reflecting the desires and aspirations of Victorian country gentry.
Take a stroll in the labyrinthine 'grand gardens in miniature' now restored to their Victorian heyday. Enjoy the garden vistas and discover enchanting features like the pleasure grounds with their fountain centrepiece or the classical summerhouse or the fern dell and pet cemetery.
With snowdrops and winter evergreens, spring tulips and laburnum and summer roses and autumnal leaves, the gardens are open year-round with an ever-changing colour palette.
Average length of visit: 3 hours. At the end of your visit call into the tearoom for a relaxing break.
The Rose Dell - planted with species of wild and native roses - in full flower and scent all summer.
Nearby attractions include: Cusworth Hall, Peveril Castle and Bolsover Castle.

Brodsworth Hall, near Brodsworth, 5 miles (8.0 km) north west of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, is one of the most complete surviving examples of a Victorian country house in England. It is virtually unchanged since the 1860s. It was designed in the Italianate style by the London architect Philip Wilkinson, then 26 years old. He was commissioned for the grand residence by Charles Sabine Augustus Thellusson, who inherited the estate in 1859. The house has more than 30 rooms, ranging from grand reception rooms with original furnishings to the servants' quarters. The house is surrounded by Victorian period gardens, which are used for special events throughout the summer.
It is constructed in ashlar limestone with lead and slate roofs. The main block is 2-storey rectangular range having 9-bay frontage. [1] It is a grade I listed structure.
