Descripción:Kurfürtstliches Schloss (Clemensplatz): El príncipe elector Clemens Wenzeslaus von Sachsen, último Elector de Tréveris, hizo construir este palacio entre 1777 y 1786, exponente de la arquitectura neoclásica temprana en Renania. Las obras del Palacio de los Príncipes Arzobispos se iniciaron bajo un proyecto de Michael d'Ixnard y culminaron bajo la supervisión de Antoine François Peyère 'el Joven'.

Entre 1850 y 1857 el Príncipe Guillermo, que más tarde se convertiría en el Emperador Guillermo I, desempeñó desde aquí su cargo de gobernador militar prusiano. Residió en el Palacio Electoral junto con la emperatriz Augusta, quien encargó al arquitecto paisajista Peter Joseph Lenné diseñar el paisaje de la orilla izquierda del Rin; los maravillosos jardines que hoy se conocen como Kaiserin-Augusta-Anlagen. Tras ser destruido durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial el palacio fue reconstruido y hoy es sede de diversas administraciones públicas.

The Electoral Palace (German: Kurfürstliches Schloss) in Koblenz, Germany, was the residence of the last Archbishop and Elector of Trier, Clemens Wenceslaus of Saxony, who commissioned the building in the late 18th century. In the mid-19th century, the Prussian Crown Prince (later Emperor Wilhelm I) had his official residence there during his years as military governor of the Rhine Province and the Province of Westphalia. It now houses various offices of the federal government.

The Electoral Palace is one of the most important examples of the early French neoclassical great house in Southwestern Germany, and with Schloss Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel, the Prince Bishop's Palace in Münster and Ludwigsburg Palace, one of the last palaces built in Germany before the French Revolution.[1] Since 2002 it has been part of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site,[1] and it is also a protected cultural property under the Hague Convention.
